The Software menu showing all available software

Software is used with your Mobile Super X laptop to provide extra functions and various enhancements to your ruins-exploring experience. These items can be obtained via shops, hidden walls, and other means. These have replaced the MSX ROMs used in the original, and unlike ROMs, all software can provide some useful function (even if that function is not obvious).

You can view and "activate" your collected software via the Software tab of the laptop menu. Software only provides its function when it's active, but each software program uses up a certain amount of Memory when active. You can use as many as you like at the same time, as long as you stay within the Memory limit of your laptop. Initially, only 1000MB is available for use, but this can be doubled to 2000MB by purchasing the Mobile Super X2 later in the game.

All of the Game Software is based on actual Flash games created by NIGORO prior to the original La-Mulana, but sadly, obtaining the software does not allow you to play the games inside La-Mulana. They can be played in an archive such as Flashpoint, or with other compatibility measures.

Software Combinations[]

Some software provides extra functionality when combined with another specific piece of software, and other software (most of the Game Software) does not provide any function at all unless combined in this manner. When a valid combination is activated, a chime will play and the icons and Memory bars for the respective software will glow. However, while software combination effects are listed in the manual, and some are mentioned in the software descriptions, the game itself does not provide any description of what most combinations do, leaving it to the player to discover their effects. Below is a list of all known software combinations and their effects.

Software 1 Software 2 Combined Effect
yagomap.exe yagostr.exe Fully-detailed Map
bunemon.exe bunplus.com Increases text storage slots from 10 to 20
emusic.exe beolamu.exe Allows the Music Player to play all tracks
miracle.exe mekuri.exe Guaranteed Key Fairy
miracle.exe capstar.exe Guaranteed Item Fairy
miracle.exe bounce.exe Guaranteed Attack Fairy
miracle.exe deathv.exe Reduces Fairy Point recharge time
deathv.exe move.exe Invincibility after taking damage lasts longer
randc.exe mekuri.exe Increases attack power of the Knife, Axe, Key Sword, and Katana
move.exe lamulana.exe Increases attack power of the Whip, Chain Whip, and Flail Whip
move.exe randc.exe Restores health to 32 when it reaches 0 (must save and reload before using again)
miracle.exe mirai.exe Activates developer rooms

Note: randc.exe and miracle.exe seem to indicate a software combination, but this combination has no known function. It's likely that it originally guaranteed a Healing Fairy, but was disabled due to the high chance of receiving one randomly.
